If you have never been to a Claptone masquerade, immediately go to Bandsintown or your favorite music site and check your calendar for his tour. While I am always down for a costume party, Claptone’s musical stylings are best found on the dance floor. Whether he’s spinning the the hottest nu disco, tech house or providing you a fresh remix of his own work, the evening greets all form of weird in a circus and jubilant affair. If you’re lucky, a professionally strange French clown, contortionist, or performer may even be present to help set the mood and deepen the journey into night.
“Animal” is as much defined by Alec Ounsworth’s lyrical stylings as the walking bass line that feels stolen from a Sean Connery-era Bond film. Embodying the energy and form of a classic rock song, “Animal” sits on top of a funky groove that fuels this indie-inspired dance number.
To those unfamiliar, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah’s music is quirky and weird. Coincidentally, the art from their debut album hangs as part of a collage on my office wall.
