The human psyche is a beautiful, wonderous piece.of.shit. No matter how high it might fly you at a certain point, there’s no denying just how low it can also throw you. Apparently, when someone is fretting, the least soothing suggestion is to stop worrying about it. Ironically, though, singing those same words just might do the trick. Personally, whenever I’m feeling some negative type of way, one of my go-to solutions is to sing “Three Little Birds” out loud to myself (honestly, highly recommend if you’ve never tried it).
And so it goes, the healing power of music. It helps plants grow, it thwarts the ill will of unwanted silences, and it takes you where you need to be when you’re not in the right place. Slightly engimatic to the scene, Tyde, a production duo from London, have epitomized musical mitigation in their latest EP, Mosaic. In a fresh take, their song “Don’t Worry” is perfect to throw on in a time when you need to hear it. Embedded within several layers of piano and percussion, the steady snaps and snares frequently flow around the vocal samples stating, “don’t worry ‘bout it.” The seamless balance between electronic and organic sounds will balance your mentality. Instantly, I want to stop whatever I’m doing, close my eyes, and softly jam out. Though tranquil, the buoyancy of Tyde’s piece will loftily lift your soul if you let it.
Until we humans actually come up with the technology to press the pause button on life, tracks like this are the only semblance of such. Tyde is not Bob Marley, but, save both the genre and scale of recognition, they certainly achieve the same effect.
