A Chestnut-sided Warbler (Setophaga pensylvanica) looks for insects to eat on a White Mulberry (Morus alba) and then a Yaupon Holly (Ilex vomitoria) at Smith Oaks Sanctuary in High Island, TX, USA.
High Island is one of the first spots of dry land that a lot of songbirds see after migrating north over the Gulf of Mexico in the spring, and they sometimes spend time in the sanctuaries here resting and feeding before continuing their journey north. There were winds from the north and heavy rains a couple of nights before, too. So that forced a lot of migrating birds to concentrate here.
