Today we archive the sequel to the charming Cthulhu puzzle game Call of the Sea. This was a great, little adventure made by developers who clearly had passion for the genre and created an awesome story with good puzzles and a surprising twist.
Call of the Elder Gods now continues the story where we play as Harry, the husband of the first game's protagonist, and the newly introduced Evie. She suffers from weird dreams that depict an ancient city and an evil cult is after an aritfact held by Harry.
The biggest change in this game is that you now have sections that involve other characters which adds more depth and believability to the story. The voice acting is great and the characters make it seem like a less lonely experience than the first game.
The areas are gorgeous, varied and very colorful. Certain sections are a little less interesting like long sequences in grey, old bunkers, but for the most part it is a feast for the eyes.
The puzzles are also really good. There are a few that outlast their welcome as the amount of information you need to gather can be a bit (too) much, but in general the puzzles are deep without feeling frustrating.
It is an excellent adventure and definitely a step up compared to the first game. I am very curious what these developers will have in store for us next!
