Back in 2011 I took the California Zephyr from Emeryville, CA, to Reno, NV, to visit my niece’s home and to see my money at work in the local casinos. Back then, I didn’t have a decent video camera so I only took stills. On March 23, 2015, I repeated that journey and brought my video camera to capture some of the trip and the scenery. This is the eastbound trip where the video got cut short as I was descending the Truckee River canyon into Reno. The primary camera battery ran low and the backup had somehow failed to charge the night before I left. We arrived in Reno about 40 minutes late due to a disabled freight train ahead of us around Auburn. We were stopped long enough for me to have lunch in the dinner while we were sitting still. The route follows I-80 much of the way so you’ll see shots of freeway traffic along the way. The return trip will be added soon.
