Deaf poet Penny Beschizza’s signed poem (in British Sign Language) "Grass" is a haiku poem that shows grass withering in strong sunshine. It was recorded as part of the first BSL haiku festival at Bristol Deaf Club in 2006.
The poems in this channel are part of the collection made as the University of Bristol Sign Language Poetry Anthology with the aim to study metaphor in sign language poetry. The poem is discussed in the book Introducing sign language literature folklore and creativity, by Rachel Sutton-Spence and Michiko Kaneko, published by Palgrave press.
