Deaf poet Richard Carter's signed poem (in British Sign Language) "Identity haiku" shows the poet reveal himself as happily deaf and gay. It was performed at the Bristol Centre for Deaf People at the University of Bristol in the Bristol Poetry Festival of 2011.
