Deaf poet Paul Scott's signed poem (in British Sign Language) "Roz: Teach a Dog a New Trick" tells a story of a dog that cannot chase a ball when it is thrown oddly but can chase it when it is thrown properly. It is a metaphor for deaf education, using handshapes determined by signs for different types of deaf education methods. It was performed at the Arnolfini Arts Centre in Bristol in 2009.

The poems in this channel are part of the collection made as the University of Bristol Sign Language Poetry Anthology with the aim to study metaphor in sign language poetry. The poem is discussed in the book Introducing sign language literature folklore and creativity, by Rachel Sutton-Spence and Michiko Kaneko, published by Palgrave press. A full translation and commentary on the poem and its features is available at: signinghandsacrossthewater.files.wordpress.com/2015/09/paulscottrozteachadoganewtrick.pdf
