Doing some testing of Bleed for PC, so here's a reference video for what I believe is a weird glitch with the Spider Core. It seems like the Remote Mines do an obscene amount of damage to its leg, tripling the normal damage it takes to its head. It doesn't take this same damage from other weapons, so it seems like this is an exploit.
I also decided to include using the Chainsaw on it, since you can stand on the far edge of the platform without getting damaged if you're very careful. The Chainsaw is the most powerful weapon in the game as far as I can tell, and it tears enemies apart if you can manage to stay in range.
Reposting what I determined over on the SDA forums, here are the weapon damage values from highest to lowest:
- Chainsaw
- Remote Mines (exploded manually)
- Katana
- Revolver (ricocheted twice)
- Dual Pistols
- Revolver (ricocheted once)
- Laser Rifle
- Flamethrower
- Rocket Launcher
- Revolver (not ricocheted)
- Homing Missiles
- Shotgun
I'll write a proper description here sometime soon!

![Alter Echo - Transit: Ambush shortcut
I briefly had a way to beat this level really fast, but unfortunately it requires you to activate at least one trigger before the transition is opened. Still, the Morph Pounce lets you skip a little bit of it if done fast enough.
Morph Pounce: [ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4EqND43sh4M ]
On level 19, reach the final section of the stage where the bridge is blown out by a Gunner and climb up onto the stealth track. With careful timing, you can Morph Pounce off of the track toward the exit and leap over the door, letting you drop behind it. This leads to a small area not designed for players to see, but you dont end the stage like with other levels by accessing this. The trigger is directly tied with the Sync Node that you must activate a switch to reach.
Because this is a strict construction that goes against the layout of other stages, its important to note how its not as breakable as some. You can still save some time by jumping over the door it at least shaves off the time of killing the enemies, waiting for Stome, shooting the door with Stome, and going inside, but unfortunately it doesnt save nearly the amount of time I wished it would.
You can also throw yourself out-of-bounds with this pretty easily, and I demonstrate it a bit in the video. Almost any direction will launch you outside of the map, and as usual, it always drops you to your death. Alter Echo - Transit: Ambush shortcut](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/uOqd18szTuU/mqdefault.jpg)
![Advent Rising - Fuse roll
When faced with the decision of taking either Ethan or Olivia to the escape pod, you can crouch and do a roll towards them to make the other character appear inside of Gideon as he crouch-walks around, which also has the benefit of being faster in a speedrun.
In 1-E, approach either Ethan or Olivia and crouch down. Roll toward them so that you collide and the animation plays where Gideon picks them up, and he should immediately revert to his crouched position. Simultaneously, the other character takes the same position, crouching in the same space as Gideon and following his actions precisely.
This is likely just a small oversight in the way the game differentiates standing and crouched states, but its actually quite useful because it speeds up the route to the escape pod. Crouch-walking is about 16% faster, reducing the required time to get to the escape pod by a little over a second. For something so easy to do in a forced section, its a solid improvement.
In addition to that, the appearance is hilarious, because when merging with Ethan, Gideons face flashes between being clean-shaven and having a goatee, not to mention the changing suit. When paired with Olivia, he looks like he has an extra pair of arms.
There are alternatives to this method, such as fist slamming into Ethan to get boosted toward the stairs a little more, but any improvement from that would be lost because of having to stand while helping him to the escape pod. While fist slamming skips the initial animation, this is basically guaranteed to be faster if not as fast as any other way. Plus its freaky.

![Alter Echo - Transit: Stome shortcut
Theres a long fight in this section of the level, but its possible to skip right by it using the Alt Pounce, after skipping the cutscene.
Alt Pounce: [ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zR0GzmTJJH4 ]
First, on level 18, you need to avoid the trigger at the beginning of the area that causes enemies to spawn and Stome to begin firing. You can either hang left and double jump at the end of the stealth track leading into this area, or carefully Morph Pounce off of the track.
Morph Pounce: [ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4EqND43sh4M ]
Once youve bypassed the cutscene, youre free to wander around this area, but toward the back end behind Stome is a bump in the ground. This is right behind the Gun Node, and with enough practice from here, you can Alt Pounce over the forcefield. Youll now be on top of the area where Titans typically move to activate the switch. Dropping back behind the hill and then moving inward will bring you to the level transition, meaning you can beat the level without having to deal with the focus of this mission.
The cutscenes, the fight, and the puzzle thing to open the forcefield are all really long and frustrating, so this trick thankfully passes over all of that. It likely saves about two minutes or so, but it is an extremely hard trick to perform. It can be performed multiple times without repercussion, so its not as bad as other Alt Pounces.
As a note, it may be possible to Morph Pounce over the forcefield from the stealth track, but I havent been able to do it. It could be that you just cant get high enough to make it, but the point is that its at least possible. Alter Echo - Transit: Stome shortcut](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/uiB1yZ4ehZI/mqdefault.jpg)
![Penguins Arena: Sednas World - False Start glitch
This glitch abuses an oversight by the developers that most notably allows you to begin a match throwing snowballs and/or moving forward, ignoring the countdown.
[NOTE: As of May 26th, 2015, shooting before the countdown no longer works. You can still move, though.]
Normally, the game tries to prevent you from doing anything at the beginning of the match while it counts down from 5 to 0. But in a case where you win a match, as soon as the last penguin is flying off into the water, hold down all of the buttons you want to use at the open of the next level. Say you want to throw snowballs: you hold down left-click while the last penguin is over the water and continue holding this through the match results and the loading screen. Youll open the next match throwing snowballs about every second.
You can combine this by holding up through the loading screen to move forward through the level as youre throwing snowballs, which means you can destroy entire teams before they get a chance to fight.
If you have lost the match though, you are shown as a penguin angel above the map that can throw explosive star things down on the other penguins. Performing this glitch as the penguin angel isnt as difficult as if you win the match because you dont need to predict the end of the match. At any time before the loading screen, the losing player can hold the directions or buttons he wants to open the next map with.
I believe this is because the game locks the winning players controls as soon as the match is won, whereas it has no real reason to lock the angels controls.
Regardless, this glitch is a game breaker, and shockingly easy to perform.
Its important to note that you are not completely paralyzed while the countdown timer is going. You can jump, which allows you to reposition yourself if youre on a hill or slope. Penguins Arena: Sednas World - False Start glitch](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/vBKADNbDdQs/mqdefault.jpg)

![Tobes Vertical Adventure - 2-4 new route (descent)
This is currently the best route Ive come up with for getting to the goal treasure chest of the fourth map of the Frozen Caves in as little time as possible. A route like this is only really useful in a full game speedrun.
The main change to the standard route of 2-4 involves the simple addition of the Floor Door to avoid a little bit of running. Once youve navigated through the disappearing blocks, you can slide down a wall to drop down almost directly on top of the switch.
Its recommended that you grab the balloon box after activating the switch near the Floor Door trick, but only if youre playing as Tobe. Tobe needs to make a long jump from the goal treasure to the left over a large gap, and while Tobe could normally quite easily jump it and wallrun, the shaking of the screen affects where Tobe begins wallrunning. This means he will most likely die. Using a balloon allows you to grab the ledge and it costs very little time to grab the box.

![Advent Rising Xbox speedrun (warps) - 22m16s
YouTube deleted all annotations so you can view this run with commentary here: [ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ssLVUh-AOM ]
This run has been verified by the folks at Speed Demos Archive as being a legitimate run without cheating. The run is available on the site now. http://speeddemosarchive.com/AdventRising.html
This is a deathless, single-segment, easy mode, warps run of Advent Rising for the Xbox. The run abuses bugs and oversights to improve the time, and uses the two sets of Mario-style warp pipes to skip four chapters of the games eight. The time is calculated from the first moment I gain player control to the moment I lose it, totalling twenty-two minutes and sixteen seconds.
This run was played on the Xbox version because the second set of Mario-styled warp pipes in 4-B are inaccessible in the PC edition. Unfortunately, the Xbox version includes the awful load times and more bugs. I estimate that about 10m40s are spent on mandatory segments, and 2m37s spent on loading times.
Also, the game difficulty was set to Easy because higher difficulties only decrease the damage the player does to enemies and increase the damage the enemies do to the player, slowing down forced enemy encounters.
The individual tricks I use during this (and many others) are all detailed in my other Advent Rising videos, viewable here: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL008BAA7D44F6D377&feature=plcp

![Advent Rising - The Pullevator (jumping trick)
When Gideon throws an object or enemy hes Lifted, he plays an animation that stops him from doing anything else briefly. If you perform a Lift throw in mid-air, Gideon ignores gravity and floats while he plays the animation. This gives you a brief window to perform a different action. In this case, you jump while targeting, Lifting, and throwing at the same time, stopping Gideon at the apex of the second jump with another Lift animation. This lets Gideon continually rise into the air, punctuated by the Lift throw animation.
Like the Skyward Shield trick [ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Y0D-kmWg6I ], the Pullevator recovers quite a bit of psychic energy between jumps, meaning you can do the trick a number of times before falling.
Unfortunately, I dont believe this has any practical use in a speedrun, but its a really cool oversight. Advent Rising - The Pullevator (jumping trick)](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/wnRqT-uKBWk/mqdefault.jpg)
