This glitch abuses an oversight by the developers that most notably allows you to begin a match throwing snowballs and/or moving forward, ignoring the countdown.
[NOTE: As of May 26th, 2015, shooting before the countdown no longer works. You can still move, though.]
Normally, the game tries to prevent you from doing anything at the beginning of the match while it counts down from 5 to 0. But in a case where you win a match, as soon as the last penguin is flying off into the water, hold down all of the buttons you want to use at the open of the next level. Say you want to throw snowballs: you hold down left-click while the last penguin is over the water and continue holding this through the match results and the loading screen. You'll open the next match throwing snowballs about every second.
You can combine this by holding up through the loading screen to move forward through the level as you're throwing snowballs, which means you can destroy entire teams before they get a chance to fight.
If you have lost the match though, you are shown as a penguin angel above the map that can throw explosive star things down on the other penguins. Performing this glitch as the penguin angel isn't as difficult as if you win the match because you don't need to "predict" the end of the match. At any time before the loading screen, the losing player can hold the directions or buttons he wants to open the next map with.
I believe this is because the game locks the winning player's controls as soon as the match is won, whereas it has no real reason to lock the angel's controls.
Regardless, this glitch is a game breaker, and shockingly easy to perform.
It's important to note that you are not completely paralyzed while the countdown timer is going. You can jump, which allows you to reposition yourself if you're on a hill or slope.
