The Apricot Boulevard, by yours truly.

When I first created this one, I focused on balancing the flavors, sweetness, bitterness, and strength without paying much attention to the numbers. When I finally looked at the specs that produced the best result, I was like “people will think it’s too sweet and too boozy”. But the final cocktail is remarkably balanced.

The bitterness of the Fernet balances the sweetness of the Bénédictine, while the touch of apricot liqueur softens the whiskey’s edge and brings everything together. It’s beautifully herbaceous with just a hint of fruitiness.

This one is a banger. Cheers.

2 oz / 60 ml rye whiskey
0.5 oz / 15 ml Bénédictine
0.5 oz / 15 ml Fernet-Branca
0.25 oz / 7.5 ml apricot liqueur

Garnish: mint leaf
