Well, I was not planning on going to Kettering for First Monday, as I had my sights set on something else. However, plans came up which required me to stay closer to home, so I decided to get a better video of the RM-127 at the Kettering Street Dept. complex. This is one of two RM-127's in the system that are three phase, and after hearing one for myself, I feel that the three phase ones are more punchy than the single phase models. This siren, along with the rest of the RM-127's in Kettering, were installed in 1998.
This siren is located in the middle of the gated off complex off of E. Dorothy Lane so I had to set up about 274 feet away in a residential area off of Gaylord Avenue to film it. Unfortunately, it was rather hot out with low humidity, so there are heat waves caught on the video. Other than that, the video came out pretty good in my opinion considering the distance I recorded it from. Other than that, it was a typical Kettering 90 second test month.
Nothing else to note from yesterday except the fact that Centerville/Washington Twp and possibly all of the county controlled 2001s ran on batteries for the test this month and went for a little over one minute as opposed to the usual two.
Kettering tests their 9 sirens along with the rest of Montgomery County on the First Monday of every month at noon.
