People pleasing avoids discomfort in the short term, but can ruin your life in the long term.
People pleasing is a behavior where an individual tries to satisfy others' expectations, needs, and desires to gain their approval and avoid disapproval or conflict.
This pattern of behavior often stems from a fear of rejection or a need for validation.
While it can bring temporary feelings of acceptance and harmony, people pleasing can also lead to emotional exhaustion, resentment, and a lack of self-respect.
Learning to set healthy boundaries, communicate assertively, and prioritize one's own needs can help break the cycle of people pleasing and foster more authentic connections with others.

Video Transcript:
I always find this question to be really insightful when dealing with clients.
Imagine you're going to a party.
A friend of yours invited you,
and you know a few people there, but the majority of people you don't know.
You get to the party,
you grab yourself a drink, and at that moment that you start to meet
new people, on a scale of 1 to 10, how important is it for you to be liked?
Now, you have your number, what would you like that number to be?
For most people, they would like that number to be
a little bit lower, that it shouldn't be that important
that we're liked by people that we've never met.
This is even a hypothetical situation.
If you're not sure how to get
from that higher number to a lower number that seems more healthy
and sane, then maybe we should have a conversation.

See Pauls website at https://www.confidecoaching.com or you can book a free session at https://bit.ly/trialsession
This is a short exercise to see if you have the most common negative belief that people have about themselves.
[TRANSCRIPT]:
Beliefs are deeper than thought, and thought is deeper than emotion.
What is emotion?
Emotion is a physiological response to our thinking.
And so if were tinkering with beliefs that resonate with you, that are true to you, youre going to feel it.
Youre going to feel it somewhere in your body.
Take a deep breath and say, Im not good enough. So what happened there?
Either the words were flat as if you said, I am the color blue, and it didnt make any sense at all, and you didnt feel anything in your body.
Now, if you do have it, if you had that deep feeling somewhere, maybe in your throat or your chest – that heaviness, congratulations! Youre human!
Its okay. This is what humans do.
