Let's review each episode of the cult classic Viva Pinata TV series based on the hit game in (mostly)under 90 seconds!

In Arctic Invasion, Hudson finds his thunder stolen by those four lads from Liverpool-I mean, the Antarctic. The Pengums! I can't tell you how happy I am they went with a sendup to an actually great group, and not the fake boy bands these shows usually go for. And this episode is chock full of Beatles references, most obviously allusions to the Hard Day's Night movie, but even including a take on the infamous "We're more popular than Jesus" quote. It's obvious at least somebody on the staff was a huge fan of the real thing! And nowhere is that more clear than the song sendups, with one being an obvious parody of Help, and the other I THINK an original song done in the Beatles style? And congratulations, show, you have successfully made catchier tunes than even your previously featured Rock Candy! The only problem is that these references are going to fly over the heads of any kid who watches this today. Seriously, does anyone under the age of 18 even know who the Beatles were? Or any other music artist besides Taylor Swift? But I digress. This is still a fantastically fun segment and one of the major standouts of the show. ...Oh, right, there was a plot to this one, wasn't there? Hudson gets jealous of the band's success and how they're overshadowing him, thus he teams up with Langston to get them kicked off the island. ...Right after a short but hilarious sequence of Hudson's failed 30 second career in rock stardom, where I guess we're just ignoring when he actually WAS in a rock band. It turns out the presence of the Pengums is literally freezing the island over and messing up pinata central, thus they must ruin their performance and get them sent home. Which they do, but not in the way they were expecting. Revealing this segment wasn't a sendup to the Beatles, but Milli Vanilli. Yeah, this is one of my favorite episodes, with clear love for one of the best music groups of all time, and even some clever writing, where I didn't always know where it was going. And should I be surprised that Hudson's ex-girlfriend Karina is here and suddenly talking in a man's voice?
