Still chipping away at this map so let's talk about the secret event here as you may have noticed something peculiar last time.
The secret event happens on turn 3. Normally, the secret event has the Weird Sage in the northwest get replaced by everyone's favorite egglord. However, thanks to a patch I applied, I can keep going with the secret regalia sidequest and show off what the egglord does.
On the secret regalia side of things, have either Caroline or Victoria, whomever learned Void Shield, speak to the Weird Sage. Doing so will replace the skill with Watchful which prevents the bearer from having any items stolen. This also unlocks the final step in the sidequest near the end of the game.
Normally, the Weird Sage offers the chance to learn a random skill to the first person that chats it up. The egglord likewise does this, but his offered skills are completely different. Since Crixus is getting some serious training in here and had a near death experience with a devil reversal eye earlier, he goes in for the egglord's skill. The RNG gods gave Crixus the Acrobat skill which makes the movement cost across ANY traversable terrain 1.
Anyways, the rest of the crew is dealing with things around the map. Jesse in particular is here once again because there's a hidden Rescue staff near the egglord. As a matter of fact, there's hidden items in each corner of the map. As much as I'd love to grab them all, with only one person able to guarantee finding an item when stepping into the area, I can only really try for one of them.
Yet...the flag of shame turn limit is 65 turns. That'd be way more than enough time...on hard or lower. On lunatic, the tomb throws one more nasty gimmick if you hit turn 25 in the form of a poison gas that affects the entire map and does 5 damage to everyone at the start of each turn.
If that wasn't bad enough...after finding the Morganis Amulet upon searching the third throne, the tomb begins to collapse. At this point, you have 10 turns to hoof it back to the entrance and escape. You still want to search the last throne though since you'll get a very nice Umbra tome.
One last thing to mention is the treasure chests. Since this is a tomb, the chests are actually mimics. Their weapon can also inflict silence if it connects. Fire magic, holy weapons, and axes are effective on them. Good for my Aisha who's been mostly operating solo thanks to a bunch of stat boosters I tossed her way.
Aisha also picks up a random Ring from a mimic in the southwest. Throw this into the convoy or Jakka's inventory asap since it's use will come into play after the next chapter.
Escaping doesn't get too nasty thankfully. Matter of fact, I wait several turns at the exit to take advantage of some enemy reinforcements for some nice exp.
Next time, we totally don't have any issues using the amulet to bring down Kangax. Before closing this video out though, there are two characters to talk about that make their debut here.
First up is the dancer from the end of the last chapter, Zahri. She dances, she has skills that provide buffs like Inspiring Dance (+2 str/mag/def to whomever she refreshes) and Charm (+3 dmg for anyone within 2 spaces of her). That's all you ever really need from a dancer so she's quite good.
Stat spread wise, her hp & def are rather poor. 34 hp isn't really that huge at this point in the game and 9 def means she can come uncomfortably close to death if some physical bearing enemy decides to hit her. Very nice spd, luk, and res though with matching good growths to boot.
She's also going to get a B rank support with the other new guy that joins, Darius.
Darius comes in packing the Bargain personal skill. Halving prices in shops is nice, but there's a problem...there's all of two chapters with shops you can visit from now until the end of the game so it's a really niche skill.
Luckily, that skill doesn't take anything away from the fact Darius is a very good combatant. Being a Necromancer means access to dark magic, but he's also insanely bulky for his class. 57 hp, 14 def, 19 res, and high growths in those three stats means he can probably facetank a double hit and be just fine with Nosferatu. Strong offensive stats and growths too. Speed might be his only minor weakness due to a 35% growth there.
Finally...Darius can summon his stalwart skeleton buddy Ahmed who's incredibly useful himself. He can do some decent chip damage, but his main goal is to bait out dangerous enemies or laugh if anything so much as inflicts a status ailment on him. Thanks to his Undead personal skill, he cleanses himself of all status ailments at the start of each turn.
