February 18, 2009 - Ovechkin's best goals often come in some of his greatest games. Many of his magical markers, from "The Goal" in Phoenix, to his solo effort in Game 5 against the Rangers (2009), and his "Dangle-icious" goal against the Devils, the Great 8 usually came out flying before scoring his most memorable tallies. Ovechkin was in the midst of one of the hottest stretches of his career with 14 goals in his last 13 games, including a hat trick in his previous outing - youtu.be/7mxBj-Jx4RA. Prior to puck drop, Ovechkin told TSN's Pierre McGuire, "I won't be stopped", and on every shift early, it felt like Ovi could score at any moment. His efforts culminated on a brilliant goal to tie the game just over 10 minutes in, winning the race to puck on a line change, using the boards to make a behind-the-back pass to himself to get around Montreal's Roman Hamrlik, and beating Carey Price while falling with Kyle Chipchura draped on his back. Words can barely describe just how insane this goal was. Other than "The Goal" against Phoenix, this one is the one I see most often called by hockey fans as his best ever. Whatever your personal ranking is, I'm willing to bet it is at least in the top 5. The goal would actually end up as Ovechkin's only point of the night, but his strong performance kept on throughout the game. With games like this, it's easy to see why he became just the 11th player to ever win the Hart Trophy in consecutive years.
Had to mix broadcasts. The TSN feed was missing some parts of the game but the quality was too good not to use for the main video, plus it had better replays and made more sense with the title.
