December 20, 2014 - There are some nights an Ovechkin goal feels inevitable. This mid-December tilt against the New Jersey Devils was one of those games. After coming close on several great chances in the first two periods, Ovechkin would score one of the greatest goals of his career (with an equally great Joe Beninati call to go along with it), splitting the defense with a between the legs deke before roofing it on the backhand while falling. It would end up being his only point of the night, but Ovechkin could easily have had another three or four points with the chances he was generating in what was one of his best performances of the 2014-15 season.
