I first heard about the Midnight Runners when listening to the Bad Boy Running Podcast around 6 years ago when they interviewed one of the founders of Midnight Runners ~5 years after its inception. Since then I have really wanted to check out this high energy run crew and join them on one of their bootcamp runs where they meet in their hundreds and head out as like-minded individuals all looking to exercise in a positive community environment, blasting music as they go.
I was lucky enough to be working in London on a Tuesday and staying close to the meeting point of the Midnight Runners which was The Raven pub, Tower Bridge. I was lucky enough to be there on a special All Stars Event where previous Captains were returning for a reunion which added to the already very positive vibes! The run was advertised as 8km with 4 exercise stops to regroup and do some strength training and plyometrics. There is a warm up and cooldown too.
The entire set up is very relaxed and I would encourage anyone to go along and check it out. The exercise stops are great as the faster runners exercise for longer and the slower runners still get a chance to join in the exercise station... Although there was no pressure and if the exercise didn't suit you it was totally fine just to sit it out, or have a chat with a new friend instead!
The Midnight Runners currently run in London, Hong Kong, Sydney, Tokyo, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Milan. Paris, Bogota, Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Santiago, Boston, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Toronto so they truly are a global running community. Let me know in the comments if you have checked out the Midnight Runners and what your experience was like. I can't wait to join them for another run sometime soon! I absolutely loved my run with them and can't thank the Midnight Runners enough for such a wonderful evening!
