This presentation in 2 parts describes an incident we experienced where the forwarding plane and control plane became out of sync, which the reason in this case is likely vendor specific it is a more generalizable problem. In the second part we problematize how router / switch / forwarding planes diverged that lead us to this place in the industry and how we are likely to stay there as the devices get faster.

He has worked in various Networking adjacent jobs starting with Timeshare, and Unix Tech support, Linux and Unix system adminstration, Network equiment vendors, Online gaming and most recently Content Delivery networks.
