The Gloucestershire & Warwickshire Railway gives you the opportunity to arrive in style at the Cheltenham festival with three Thoroughbred locos hauling 'At The Races Express' specials directly into Cheltenham racecourse. What better way to arrive for the famous four day horse racing meet.
The thoroughbreds in operation were Ex Southern Railway's 35006 'Peninsular & Oriental which hauled the first train of the day. The second train of the day was headed by Great Western 7903 'Foremarke Hall' and then finally we get a look at fellow Great Westerner 6880 'Betton Grange' hauling the empty coaching stock to Toddington for the final train. All these scenes happened in just over 30 minutes. You may also note the amount of air traffic which is present in the video. The video was shot on the 14th March which was Gold Cup day, so lots of VIP's and broadcast companies were waiting for their allotted time slots to land.
