This fencing lesson is about the intreccio as well as the parry by legazione. We change the line of attack with a transport of the blade. This is an advanced parry if it is a simple parry and a simple legation but combined to get this advanced technique in one fluid motion.
We are not doing olympic fencing but historical fencing or HEMA, which means we follow the book "Scuola della spada" from Paolo de Scalzi from 1853. He taught the sword or epee as it were a sharp weapon aka a dueling sword and you better don't get hit. That makes fencing the martial art and real fighting as it should be seen as, just as it were taught in European weapons training for centuries!
