The 2026 Ford Explorer is Ford's all-electric SUV for Europe, and it is a completely different car from the American Explorer. This one is built in Cologne on Volkswagen's MEB platform, the same electric bones as the ID.4, and Ford had one job: to make it feel like a real Ford rather than a rebadged Volkswagen. In Extended Range Premium AWD form it makes 340 horsepower, hits 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds, and travels up to around 530 km between charges.
Inside is where Ford earned its badge: a big central touchscreen that tilts and slides back to reveal a hidden "private locker", a 17-litre MegaConsole between the seats, quilted vegan-leather sports seats, and a dash soundbar. The catch is the boot. At around 450 litres it trails the Volkswagen ID.4's 543, because the two cars share a floor. Charge it and it climbs from 10 to 80 percent in about 26 minutes. UK prices start near GBP 54,000 for this trim.
