The 2026 Leapmotor C10 AWD is the fast one, and almost nothing about it says so. Two motors, 598 PS, 720 Nm and 0-100 km/h in 4.0 seconds, on an 800-volt platform, in a family SUV that costs less than a mid-spec Tesla Model Y. This is the full walkthrough of the car as it sits in a Swiss showroom, sticker and all — and it is a car you cannot buy in the United States at any price.

Why not: electric vehicles imported from China have carried a 100% US tariff since 27 September 2024, and a Commerce Department rule finalised in January 2025 prohibits Chinese-controlled manufacturers from selling connected vehicles in America from model year 2027. Leapmotor is expanding through Europe, South America, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, India and, since April 2026, Mexico. The United States is not on the list, and its leadership has said there is no space there for now. So this is the cheap fast family EV Europe gets to argue about and America does not.
For the American yardstick: the closest same-size electric SUV you can actually buy is the Chevrolet Equinox EV. The 2026 AWD starts at $38,495 MSRP before destination, makes 300 hp, and is EPA-rated at 307 miles (319 miles front-wheel drive) from its 85 kWh battery. The Leapmotor answers with 598 PS. It is less money and more range against roughly half the power — and note the range figures are not measured the same way, since the C10's 437 km is WLTP, a more generous cycle than the EPA's. We do not convert the European prices into dollars, because there is no US price for this car to convert.
We go through the design and the full-width light bar, the cabin with its 14.6-inch screen, 12-speaker audio and standard panoramic roof, then the numbers that matter: 81.9 kWh, 437 km WLTP, 180 kW charging and 30 to 80 percent in 22 minutes. Then the honest part of the story. There is no Apple CarPlay and no Android Auto on any C10, at any price, because the current platform cannot support it, and the driver-assistance systems are loud enough that owners spend the first week turning them down. That is what a 598 PS SUV at this money actually asks of you.
Against a Tesla Model Y Performance at nearly €62,000 and 460 hp, the Leapmotor brings 138 more horsepower for roughly €17,000 less, and gives up about 143 km of WLTP range for it. Whether that is a good trade is the whole video.
