Unfortunately this Technics cassette deck had more than a few screws loose after being hacked apart by the previous owner before being left at the curb for e-waste recycling. Plastic was broken, the transport controls were jammed, the tape type selector microswitches were mangled, and various parts of the mechanism were incorrectly reassembled, likely from somebody's amateur attempts to repair/service it. Needless to say, it was a bit too far gone to be worth repairing.
