Is the Zoom Podtrak P4 a good audio recorder for podcasts? Yep. Great preamps and automatic mix-minus makes this one a winner. See all my gear via kit.co/rayortega
The P4 can drive most dynamic microphones, the kind most used in podcasting, including gain hungry microphones like the Shure SM7B and it does so cleanly, with little to no noise reduction required.
And for podcasters, there is the option to record audio from both smartphones and computers. This allows you to have two remote guests or co-hosts and it includes an automatic mix-minus feature allowing everyone to hear each other without getting feedback of themselves, all at the flick of a switch.
Four separate headphone amplifiers mean everyone can control their own audio settings.
The ability to power the P4 for hours via a USB battery brick, plugged into the wall or from the USB connection to the computer.
The P4 is packed with features that are specific to a podcaster's needs and is a great option for anyone starting a podcast or in need of an ultra portable solution for recording a podcast on the road.
