This year cracked me open in ways I did not expect.
Loss rearranges everything.
It challenges who we trust, what we believe, and how we stand in the world. There were moments when words meant to wound cut deeply, when relationships fell away, and when I questioned my own goodness.
And still, I practiced.
Not to escape.
Not to perform.
I returned to the mat because it is where I meet God.
Where breath becomes prayer.
Where effort becomes an offering.
The practice did not erase the grief, but it held me steady enough to keep going.
Joy and sorrow are not opposites.
They can live in the same breath.
Some people are unsettled by joy, especially when it rises from devotion rather than circumstance. But I am learning that I do not need to dim my light to make others comfortable.
Yoga teaches us to rise again and again.
To fall.
To fail.
To stand back up with humility.
To tend the garden of our own heart when the world feels loud and uncertain.
This reflection is shared on the Yoga Inspiration Podcast.
