Devotion in yoga often feels soft and serene: flowers, mantras, the steady breath of practice.
But true devotion is formed in longing. Longing is love stretched across time. It is the ache that draws you back to your mat again and again.
• Longing is devotion.
• When you show up without any guarantees.
• When you breathe through uncertainty and choose to stay.
• When your mat becomes the space where you cry, break, or ask life’s deepest questions.
• That is devotion.
It isn’t about the polish of your practice. It is about the depth of your yearning. As students, let your questions live within you. Don’t rush to fix them. As teachers, honor the fire behind every student’s inquiry. Teach to witness, to serve, not just to instruct.
We are not here to extinguish that fire. We are here to tend it.
In this episode of the Yoga Inspiration Podcast, I’m joined by Tim Feldmann, Chandana Bhowmick, and Wade Oakley to explore the many shades of devotion in yoga — the longing, the fire, and the wisdom that lives in uncertainty.
