Mysore Yoga Traditions Documentary
Directed by Andrew Eppler @andrew_eppler_yoga
At the heart of yoga is a living lineage, a transmission passed from teacher to student, shaped by devotion, inquiry, and the evolution of knowledge over time.
This documentary returns to that source.
Filmed in Mysore, it brings together the voices of elders, scholars, and long-time practitioners who carry firsthand insight into the teachings of Krishnamacharya, B. K. S. Iyengar, Indra Devi, and T. K. V. Desikachar. Their stories reveal how practice was understood, how innovation emerged, and how yoga was always meant to serve the transformation of consciousness.
You’ll hear reflections on vinyasa as a science, on the freedom teachers once had to adapt and refine postures, and on the deeper purpose of yoga as a path toward clarity, self-correction, and spiritual experience.
Yoga, in its essence, is not physical exercise.
It is a method for refining attention, awakening inner strength, and remembering that every soul has equal access to knowledge and liberation.
This film is an invitation to honor where our practice comes from, and to reconnect with the spirit that has guided students for generations.
