The second half of Yellowstone's fifth season is slated to debut on November 10 on The Paramount Network and Paramount Plus. Yellowstone is expected to return later this year. Fans were disappointed to hear that Kevin Costner, who plays John Dutton in the cherished western drama, was leaving the series because of scheduling conflicts.
He posted on Instagram, saying: "It was something that truly transformed me. Both you and I thought it was fantastic. I wanted to inform you that I will not be coming back."
He continued: "I love the relationship we've been able to develop, and I'll see you at the movies."
Costner provided more details on his departure from Yellowstone, claiming his one-and-a-half-year commitment to directing and appearing in the film Horizon as the cause of his leave. Viewers have expressed that they find it impossible to imagine the show without its main character and are interested in learning how John Dutton will wrap up the plot.
Since January 2023, the show has been paused while fans speculated about the potential comeback of the Dances with Wolves star. According to the Express, fans weren't given a release date for the new episodes until June of this year.

Unfortunately, there won't be a sixth season of Yellowstone since, according to Paramount, the upcoming episodes will be the show's last installment, ending with season five.
In a shocking development for viewers, it was revealed in May 2023 that although production on Yellowstone is scheduled to continue, the forthcoming episodes will mark the end of the beloved programme. Fortunately, there is hope in the form of plans for a follow-up series that will centre on the Dutton dynasty. Matthew McConaughey is reportedly spearheading this endeavour.
The writers' strike that year caused the sequel to be shelved temporarily, although anticipation soared when it was originally scheduled for December 2023.
Two other spinoffs, one centred in the present and the other a prequel called 1944 that will pick up after '1883' and '1923,' have already received the go-ahead from the Paramount Network.
Furthermore, '1923' is about to make a comeback for its second and last season, which was intended to take place in conjunction with Yellowstone's farewell tour.
The show's creator, Taylor Sheridan, revealed to The Hollywood Reporter his expansive ambitions for a prequel: "I believe there will be enough material for three or four more [prequels]." Chris McCarthy has faith in me since I haven't made any mistakes yet."
