Two later 90s receivers, the Yamaha RX-V590 and RX-V592. Both are 75 watts per channel and have discrete transistors. The 592 has more power to the rear channel speakers and has a bass extension loudness button.
The 590 came from a friend and I think sounds a little bit more brilliant than the 592. Might just be the tone circuit.
Both of these have different engineering inside and while they are very similar, they are different internally.
The 592 was half price at Goodwill so it was $6.49 and I figured I’d add it to the collection.
in my opinion, these are great receivers, most of what Yamaha made in the 90s and into the 2000s was solid. But it also is quite clear that they jumped on the bandwagon to make a minimalistic display. Saving grace is they still has quite a few buttons. And they seem very reliable and run cool.
The mid to late 90s is approximately where I draw the line on what I collect, as I’m really into the 80s and 70s receivers for various reasons.
