We’re running Amazon Music streaming Bluetooth audio through an analog record loop on a Tascam 42B. Essentially, we are analoging a digital source. The net effect should be a little smoother sound with an inaudible degradation as a side effect. Make sense?
It’s fun doing this and we’ll sometimes play music for the entire evening experimenting with different tape brands, formulas, thicknesses, speeds, and biasing.
This is my son‘s reel to reel and we’ve been working on this for a while after a funny acquisition story, power supply repair, and head relapping. The Sansui amplifier is 100% original and given to me from a friend of the original owner.
Both units tonight needed a good workout - especially the amp after being in hibernation for about eight months.
Also - I’m looking for somebody that has depth and understanding of biasing the Tascam 42B. We can’t get +6 and +9 tapes to record right without distortion and would like to seek some help from someone with experience, so please hit me up and I’ll send you a beer. (we think the bias caps need to be changed out, this is outside of everything we have tried with internal adjustments).
