I head back to the woods to put into practice the tips on woodland photography composition and story telling I gave in my last video - half way through making this video however disaster struck...
I decided that after weeks of rain I needed to get out and photograph something. I headed back to the woods with the idea of putting some of the tips from my last video into practice - you can see that video here youtu.be/-dkLUakDKQs - I work on a couple of images and give some tips on woodland photography composition and how telling a story can make your woodland images more compelling.
Why did I choose the woods again? Because woodland is a great subject to photograph on grey days, and here's why. Ordinarily woodland can be difficult to expose due to the high contrast between the dark shadows in the undergrowth and the bright highlights of the sky through the canopy. Grey days, and clouds, diffuse the light and make the exposure much easier to balance, especially for cameras with a fairly low dynamic range.
When shooting this video, I had a little incident with my video camera, and it's not the first time it's happened... watch to find out, and give me your condolences after...
