Well there were a few glitches along the way... and even now after it is all done... I find myself remembering things that I wanted to do!
These were simple things like forgetting to let you know what it was! I was nearly finished the edit when I realized that I had gone to the great effort of drilling all those holes ... and then didn’t tell you why!
There were things like the text I have been trying to put just before the Aftertalk. I remembered after one had been posted... but ... I thought... I’ll just pop it in the other one! Strange how the Aftertalk sign didn’t appear in either!
You can tell by the much better green screening, that there have been advancements being made. Silly stuff... like paying all the attention to the green screen itself and forgetting that I would need some light on the subject too! As with everything else... you don’t learn it all at once! I appreciate that you have stuck with me through it!
Now as far as the bowl was concerned!
That one little crack... that was on the bottom... well the wood should have been worked from the other side! You see... when the bowl got down to the thickness that I wanted... that crack was visible from the top too! If I had put that crack on the “top” of the section.... I would have turned most of it away!
Drilling... I used Forstner bits... and during the edit wondered why I hadn’t used spade bits! I have a great many more sized of them and I think they would probably have cut cleaner --- less burnt!--- holes! It was one of those things that I had in my head at the time though... so it was what got done!
I was quite proud of the glue up of the bottom section! And I think I did a pretty good job of getting it down to the right size and everything... too bad I had left the camera on the counter! But all was not lost!... you see like I said ... I wanted the cedar sandwiched between the maple and so turned it with that in mind... I was thinking that the cedar could come out and cup the bottom of the bowl and give it a little more stability... After realizing my filming mistake... I also realized that the holes on the bottom of the bowl were much closer to the middle than I had thought!
What’s a project without a few design changes along the way?
Well that was a pretty fun little project and you see that my turntable is still in working order! Although I had to slow that part down... because 33 1/3 rpm is still just a little too fast!
