Sterling Davis 2015 Pallet Wood Up-Cycle Challenge Playlist.
Well that was a bit of fun! Another piece of pallet wood saved from the landfill!
You see that my style of pen making leaves the pens quite a bit thicker than a normal one....
That is because I find skinny ones uncomfortable to use...
So I then to make them fairly thick!
I do make a thin one every once in a while... just to make it so there is a choice
_Or if something happens with the blank that makes it have to be thinner!_
There are a great many blanks one can buy...but there are an awful lot of ways of getting materials to make pens out of! This pallet is a prime example! I have some pieces of a loom that was made 110 years ago... from reclaimed lumber, Is another way of obtaining interesting wood ... and wood with a story too! When they made the loom they repurposed a broom handle as a peg... it made a quite a few pens _that used to be brooms_! ... Or if you wanted to chance going to jail... you could go dig up your neighbours rose bush while he is not looking ... the roots are really cool!
I just want to say thank you again to Sterling for putting on this challenge... and for his efforts to help his fellow man. That is why I have put multiple entries into this challenge! Sterling has vowed to pay one dollar for each entry... up to one hundred dollars... to the wounded warrior program and I just want to help him achieve that goal! Well done Sterling!
It is certainly easier to make videos without me in them! I’m just so demanding... I always want the best and won’t listen to direction! I will be back... I just wanted to get these few out here before the end of the month! The more I get done this year... the more practice I will have for next year! I guess I’ll just have to practice how to submit things randomly, too!
So what kind of thoughts are there out there on the use of baby oil? I’ve heard it said that you can’t get mineral oil in parts of the UK ...but I’m pretty sure that Johnson’s has managed to get baby oil there! It isn’t quite as thick as mineral oil but it still soaks into the wood until there isn’t any room left for it. It just takes a few more coats! And your shop always smells baby fresh! Right there in all the shavings!
Out of curiosity... I am wondering just how many people actually read this ramble that I put up here...sort of reminds me of the Vanity Cards at the end of the Big Bang Theory... I always had to read them just to see what the heck he was up to this time! But I was thinking that if people put a thumbs-down I would be able to tell that way... but then there are those who just hit that button anyway so that wouldn’t be very accurate! Same with the thumbs-up... so maybe if you just leave a comment with the letter Q in it... capitalized or not...it’s up to you! My bet would be that I will get about 5 Qs!
I’ll post the actual number in the next ramble...because you see...either way... I will continue to ramble... it would just be interesting to know if I am rambling to anybody other than the cats here!
