So we got the important people up front there and now we can deal with the fact that this isn’t where I live! I like to have a nice looking yard... this is Beacon Hill Park In Victoria and they take gardening to a whole ‘nother level! We moved to Victoria in 1966 and Beacon Hill was one of the first places that I remember seeing! It is a park where everything changes all the time... but it has looked pretty much the same for all this time! They have reduced the amount of vehicular traffic which has encouraged foot traffic ... and as there are a great many sights to see in this park... it is one that you can come back to year after year and still find new things!
So the Fig log produced another interesting piece. Not as convoluted as the bowl ... but interesting none the less! I like working with the Fig and I have a fair bit more... so I would imagine we will see more in the future! The next one will be interesting... I don’t know what kind of wood it is but it looks like one I should look at!
I’m not sure what I am going to do about the speed of my lathe! It certainly makes drilling out a center a chore! I have just purchased a new belt for my system... I don’t know how it is going to work... the belt that is on it now... is ½ x 37 so I go to the store and in the regular v groove belts they have 36 and 38! So I went over to the automotive section and bought a fan belt the proper size... but twice the money... the other thing is that the old one was a continuous v all the way along... this one has the teeth on the back of the belt. Should make it run cooler if my thinking is right! I am expecting that it should also run louder! We will see... and while we are seeing that we are going to have a look and see if there might be some way to contrive an additional pulley in the works or something! I don’t know! Oh and if anybody knows if the toothed belts have more grip than do the solid ones I should be interested to find out!

One other interesting note here!
The last video of the fig bowl... if you look at the number of views on the texted version versus the non texted one... you will see that there is quite a tilt towards the non texted one... and that would be fine... but if you look at all the other videos where I have put up two... they are all pretty much equal! This one I think is because of the icon! I can see where a quick glance would see something else!
