Sometimes you just have to put a handle on those caps. So here is the rest of the haandle for my tripod!
A basic spindle turning that is also hollow. I did however drill that hole just a little oversize so what I did was to make the whole thing longer and drill through that with a smaller bit, making a nice tight fit. It did work!
So like I said... thank you for the suggestions and I will keep finding things to turn!
