Winter brings out the natural beauty on the former DM&IR, which is bastion of old, classic locomotives, in heavy haul taconite service. The beautiful scenery, surrounding the tracks, takes on a different look in winter; creating some fantastic spots to capture train action. Many places are covered in this video, and its packed with action!
This video covers train action shot on Jan 1st, 2023, and Jan 15th, 2023. Places covered are Proctor, Munger, Burnett, Zim, Ramshaw, Highland, Culvers, and many other places along the way. Some notable highlights are steaming pellet trains, drone views after fresh snow, EMDs in run 8, and trios of C40-8s. The majority of these locomotives are slated to be replaced this spring with newer, rebuilt GEs in the CN 33XX series. Shoot these while you can before they are history!
