Global warming has come to Alberta with temperatures on the deck at plu 11 degrees Celsius. It's time to crack open a beer - like maybe a Jasper the Bear Ale. Why Jasper? It is in tribute to Jasper National Park, which suffered a catastrophic wildfire last summer. And it raises a question about how Mark Carney sees national sources of revenues. Carney is well-known as an Edmonton Oilers fan, except he doesn't like oil itself. In a recent interview, he was asked about capping the Alberta oil and gas emissions and he responded that Premier Smith should see that as a benefit as there would not be huge wildfires like that of Jasper. That seems to be a ludicrous answer as wildfires are how the forest renews itself and Western Canada has millions of hectares of standing deadwood from Mountain Pine Beetle infestations. It makes you wonder if Climate Carney becomes prime minister out of the federal Liberal party leadership race, will he take his global warming to the max and rename the Oilers...the Broilers?
