If you brush style your curls, your brush might be flattening them — even when you're doing everything else right. These are three things I catch clients doing in real time that compress their volume before their hair even dries.
❌ Loading too much hair into the brush at once creates an oversized clump that's too heavy to stack. Pick up smaller individual sections instead — separation is what creates volume, not stringiness.
❌ Letting the hair pile up inside the brush instead of spreading it flat. If it's compressed going in, it drops compressed.
❌ Pinching the hair as it leaves the brush re-clumps everything you just separated. Release without pinching — then check what landed and separate any large clumps with your hands.
