Do you reach for oil when you see frizz or your curls lose hold?

Oil feels like it should help… but it’s not the right fix for frizz.
Oil adds softness.
It doesn’t restore hold.
When you use it for frizz:
• it can make curls feel softer but looser
• it may weigh things down instead of reshaping them
• it doesn’t bring the curl pattern back
If your curls lost shape or look patchy, the goal is to reactivate or add hold, not soften.
That usually looks like:
• water to reactivate the gel already in your hair
• a small amount of gel (on wet hands) if you need more hold
• targeted application only where needed
Oil has its place. It’s great when your hair feels brittle or tangled.
But for frizz and hold, you need structure, not softness.
