If your curls don’t hold, the problem might not be your routine. It might be your gel.
As a curl coach, this is something I see all the time. People switch from gel to gel hoping the next one will fix it, but they’re only checking for a cast.
A cast just means the gel formed a film.
It doesn’t tell you if the hold is strong enough.
After you break the cast, watch what your curls do:
Do they stay intact and hold their shape?
Or do they expand, soften, and start to frizz?
That’s the difference between real hold and not enough hold.
A true strong hold gel should maintain structure and frizz control through the day. If your curls fall apart after diffusing or before the end of the day, your gel is the weak point.
