Why I, as a male detransitioner, prefer playing as a female character.
In this video I go back to the roots of discussing detransition that I first started with my video "My Detransition Story: The Dark Truth Behind Gender Dysphoria and Transition Regret" and that I continued until last year. However, this time I wish to connect it to another topic I have touched upon several times on this channel - video games.
Ever since I can remember, I have had a preference for female characters and female protagonists. From 90s classics like Resident Evil, Dino Crisis, Parasite Eve, Tomb Raider and The Longest Journey to Mass Effect and Assassin's Creed, I'm always attracted to video games with strong female protagonists like Jill Valentine, Heather Mason, Regina from Dino Crisis, Kassandra from Assassin's Creed Odyssey and April Ryan and Zoe Castillo from The Longest Journey. If the game allows me to choose between playing as a guy or a woman, I always play as a woman. If the game included character creation, I almost always create a female character.
What does that mean? Does it imply that I'm going to retransition? Do I actually still identify as a transwoman? No, not at all.
In this video I explain why the theories that people play as either the gender they identify as or the gender they're attracted to can both be wrong and that truth is much more simple.
