China wants to make it easier to marry but harder to divorce as the younger generation is becoming more reluctant to do the former, while the country's birth rate declines. A new draft amendment to the Regulation on Marriage Registration released in August intends to allow couples to get married anywhere in the country using just their IDs, without their official household registration. They will also have to wait for a 30-day cooling-off period to pass, before getting a divorce.
