In June 2023, the Titan submersible was descending toward the wreck of the Titanic when it lost contact with its supporting vessel because it had imploded, killing all five on board. A hearing is set to take place in late September 2024 to try and uncover facts surrounding the incident and develop recommendations to prevent similar tragedies in the future. Ahead of the hearing, investigators released the crew’s final words that were sent in a text to the surface.
