Former President and current Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump was the target of an apparent assassination attempt on July 15, 2024, according to the US Federal Bureau of Investigation. Trump's campaign and law enforcement reported that he was safe and unharmed after the incident at a golf course in the US state of Florida. The suspected shooter has been taken into custody as the investigation continues. Authorities said they have yet to confirm whether the gunman fired a weapon in the direction of the former president, but they said shots were fired by the Secret Service.
