Japan’s Tokyo Electric Power Company (Tepco) resumed work to remove radioactive debris from the damaged Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant on September 10, 2024. The process was temporarily disrupted in late August when the robot used to remove the hazardous material experienced a technical failure. More than 880 tonnes of debris remain trapped at the nuclear facility, posing a serious environmental and health risk.
