Fugitive former mayor Alice Guo has arrived in the Philippines, after her extradition from Indonesia on September 6, 2024. Guo faces a probe into her alleged ties to Chinese criminal syndicates involved in the online casino industry. The arrest of the one-time mayor of Bamban, Tarlac province is the latest chapter in an ongoing criminal case that has captivated the Philippines. Guo was accused of spying for China, an allegation she has repeatedly denied. Police issued an arrest warrant for Guo after she failed to appear for a Senate hearing over her alleged ties to a criminal syndicate involved in human trafficking and financial crimes.
