‘Crinkle-crankle’ walls, also known as 'serpentine walls', are predominantly found in East Anglia and Suffolk in England.

The distinctive curved design uses fewer bricks and was often employed in response to the Brick Tax, which was introduced in 1784 and abolished in 1850.
