Mutual Kumquat is widely known in Brethren circles as an inspirational group of musicians who are known for their creativity. According to Shawn Kirchner, a Los Angeles Composer, Singer and Pianist - "Mutual Kumquat has an abundance of all the ingredients that make a great band. They have song writing talent with lyrics that challenge, inspire, amuse and touch your heart as well as melodies that leave you humming."
Mutual Kumquat has regularly performed during the past 15 years at the Church of the Brethren Annual Conferences and National Youth Conferences and have traveled across country to perform for numerous congregations, colleges and festivals.
Over the years, they have recorded 5 albums. They were featured at the 19th Annual Song & Story Fest, held this past July at Camp Wilbur Stover, New Meadows, Idaho.
Brethren Volunteer Service workers, Debbie Kossmann and Anna Zakelj join Brent Carlson as hosts for this edition of "Brethren Voices." Debbie is from Duisburg, Germany and is serving at the Sisters of the Road in Portland, Oregon, providing services to homeless people. Anna is from, Modoc, Indiana and is a volunteer at SnowCap Community Ministries which provides emergency food and clothing to families of Portland's East Multnomah County.
