Let's review each episode of the TV show The Venture Bros, the greatest adult animated series ever made!

In What Goes Down Must Come Up, Rusty uncovers a hidden bunker underneath the compound. One sealed off 30 years ago yet far from abandoned. And when Brock goes down to find him, he comes across an unpleasant surprise of his own. During this lookthrough, I've come across several episodes that I just didn't want to talk about. Either because I just don't like them, or they give me little material to work with. Or sometimes both. Well, in this case, I don't want to talk about this episode, because it's just TOO GOOD! Seriously, this is one of the funniest, most ingeniously written episodes of the entire show! And I don't even know where to begin. This time, my struggles to write something are because I genuinely don't want to give away too much of the experience. So what can I say? Well, Venture and Brock stumble on a bunker Venture Senior built to shield the future of humanity from the apocalypse. That apparently, he was convinced was coming up very soon, and that Rusty would be a part of it, as he's included videos specifically targeted at a young Rusty. Suggesting either he's genuinely looking out for his son, or it's an excuse to lock him down there as soon as he can. However, as the grown Rusty looks around, he finds other people who have been trapped down there for decades. For reasons, again, I DON'T want to spoil, but prove that Venture Senior was at least a sociopath towards more than just his son. Nor do I want to reveal what they do with the videos they find. Meanwhile, Brock finds himself trapped in another bunker, with a guy who's also been trapped for decades. Who's only about six inches tall, so he's been able to subsist on the ants crawling around. And yes, they make the obvious Ant Man comparisons, but what's even funnier is that he says he was originally a GIANT, and the process to reverse it got a little out of control! I don't know why I find that hilarious, but I do. While in yet ANOTHER room, Hank, Dean, and Pete are all trying to track down Brock and Doctor Venture, when they accidentally trigger something that affects both Brock and Venture. Which could possibly be the reason why Venture Senior built the shelter in the first place. And why he was pretty sure the apocalypse was fast approaching. Yeah, this episode mixes together both an apocalyptic AND post-apocalyptic plot, and somehow makes them both work! And I will NOT dare spoil how the day is saved! But it is an example of our quote unquote heroes technically making things worse with everything they do, and it's only by stupid luck and circumstance that everything turns out right. But while the plot is incredibly fun and satisfying, most of the comedy belongs, of course, to Doctor Orpheus and friends. Who are called in to find Brock and Venture, and literally EVERYTHING they do is hilarious! Like trying to determine where they went in the first place, only to realize they've completely missed the obvious open door! Or Orpheus' frustration trying to talk to his teammates at the same time in his astral projection! Or how the team are excited that they seemingly finally got a merchandising deal. Or how specialized and ultimately useless Jefferson is to the search. As well as how he messes himself after Orpheus tries to telepathically locate Venture and spends the rest of the episode wearing Spider-Man pajama bottoms! Once again, Orpheus proves to be possibly the best character on the show! And that's about as much as I want to give away, because, trust me, this is an episode that needs to be seen as blind as possible! I thoroughly enjoyed it, and it's nice that one of the show's worst episodes is followed by one of its best. I'm not even giving an end stinger, you just have to watch this one for yourself.
